It’s four months today since I had a total Conformis knee replacement carried out by James Lewis and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.  The whole process has been very smooth and efficient from initial consultation through to wonderful care at Goring Hall and aftercare once at home. Mr Lewis is approachable and genuinely cares about your experience and outcome and is always available to answer questions and resolve any issues. I had a conformis right knee 2 weeks ago performed by Mr Lewis.  What a difference.  I'm so pleased.  It's made such a difference and I'll be walking distances very soon.  I've been off the walking sticks since day 5 so I'm very optimistic.  Mr Lewis has been available for contact throughout the experience but does give you an information packed booklet which answers all questions that might arise post op. I had a hip replacement at Goring Hall Hospital less than two weeks ago. I had been suffering with leg pain for over 6 years. I was referred for an X.Ray and I was diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my right hip and moderate osteoarthritis in my left hip. There was no other option other than a hip replacement for my right hip.  My life had been hold for so long and the pain was virtually constant, I could not wait for another 18 months to 2 years on the NHS waiting list. I had no other choice but to go privately and after some research I chose Goring Hall Hospital and Mr James Lewis. From my first contact with Mr Lewis and his detailed explanation of the procedure for minimally invasive hip replacement I felt reassured and confident. It is now only 11 days since my operation and from day 1 I have been mobile and with minimal pain. I can now walk without a stick or crutches inside but when I am outside on my walks I will keep one crutch with me for safety. I have a little discomfort overnight but during the day I am virtually pain free. I cannot recommend Mr Lewis or the wonderful and friendly staff at Goring Hall Hospital enough for giving me my life back. Thank you all.

The experience was good from start to finish.

It’s now over a year since my last Conformis knee replacement by James Lewis and over 8 years since my other knee was replaced.  Both are still performing really well and my experiences with both surgeries were very positive. I have recommended James to several friends. The whole process is virtually painless and the recovery time was very fast. A matter of a couple of weeks before getting around very well including driving (admittedly an automatic). Can’t recommend James Lewis enough.  Do make use of the cooling methods recommended as it makes a big difference and is something to look forward to! Well I’ve just got home from surgery and all has gone very very well.
With the wonderful staff at Goring Hall Hospital and James’s very clever surgery, I feel I will be going from strength to strength.
His pain management system is 2nd to none and his very specific program is excellent.
I will be in for my second knee in eight weeks and can’t wait to get up onto the golf course this summer. I would fully recommend.
Update April 24,
The second knee is a complete success. As the left was not as damaged as the right, the results are sparkling!
Again the surgery, Hospital care and post-operative pain regime is marvellous.
Honestly, this is pretty major surgery and needs a stiff upper lip at times. But the whole process is excellent under Mr Lewis and his team. So if you need a knee, go and see him.

I am now in my 4th week after having a conformis total knee replacement done by James Lewis. The process from my first consultation, operation and after care has been excellent. Comparing my journey so far to my brother and sister, who have both had knee replacements are worlds apart. I am months ahead with my recovery. They had a lot of pain for several weeks after the operation. I had no pain which I feel has help me exponentially. Being able to exercise in the early days after the operation has aided my recovery. James's operating technique, drugs pain relief program, medical team at Goring hospital and the Confomis knee prosthesis is second to none. Using the words of my Physiotherapists when she saw my progress    " the man's a genius " What more can I say.

My consultation with James Lewis was like a breath of fresh air. I had wanted a second opinion on my painful left knee having felt I was being somewhat dismissed during my first consultation. James was recommended to me via a friend and his calm and collected manor immediately put me at ease. His knowledge and professionalism are second to none. What is most important though is that he seemed to genuinely care about providing the most suitable remedy for my afflicted knee. He left no stone unturned regarding all the information he provided on the procedure and I felt in very safe hands on the day with him and his team. Mr James Lewis did knee replacement surgery on 8 Nov 2023. I can't believe how well the surgery went. I am up and walking without pain. I am so glad Mr Lewis did my knee replacement. He explained the whole procedure to me and has followed up on my recovery.  I would recommend Mr Lewis to any one who needs a knee replacement.
